Day 41 - So long, Farewell Wuhan

Last day and we had an early start. I had mixed emotions on the parting as I had gotten used to the hostel's bed and home now sounded foreign to me as I enjoyed my stay here too much.

Secondly, the friends here made leaving bittersweet an experience as we have to part ways with them although we have shared our experiences together.

In contrast, my bed is now cleaner then previously. I am so going to miss it.

And outside, it was time for us to weigh our luggage. However, I assumed the weighing machine to be rather inaccurate.

Luckily mine wasn't overweight...

And the dew on the leaves just as I was leaving the area...

And all of us had our luggage on the bus with the help of our guys. And the group saw the familiar and favourite Muslim store owner and her grandchildren.

They went to bade them farewell as they play with the kids for the last time.

We are all going to miss them. Know they will meet the next batch soon.

I can't stand the farewell. I mean, Joey and the other girls cried as though we will never see each other again with the exception of Yepp. She's so strong.

And the open air-boarding at the airport during the transit to Guangzhou.

And the mother and child in the seat behind me. The child is learning to read while his mum is coaching him on the plane.

The raindrops splattered on the window...

Heaven clearly is sad that we are leaving.

We took off to Guangzhou and I get to see the clouds there as I was taking the window seat.

I ended up in the front of the plane while the others all took the back. But to me, it matters not because it is just a ride.

And the two happy faces as they amused themselves during the transit period.

The blur shot as it was a motion shot. They were all gliding on the trolleys hence the blur shot.

With the transit time of 2 hours, all the lecturers were rushing us as we may miss our flight back to Singapore.

On my flight,I had dinner there. I didn't have time for a proper dinner before the flight.

When we touched down on Singapore, MDE division cheered in rejoice and delight that they are finally down. Even Xin Hui, sitting behind me, gave me a high-five that signalled joy.

Back in Singapore by 11 plus. And got chided by my parents after meeting them.

After snapping a group shot, I was out of there to have some local food as supper before going back home to have an undisturbed sleep. It's so good to be home although I found it strange to me at first.

My thinking was, "Did I really use that?" All in all, Yes! We are back!!!

Day 40 - Packing era

Time really flies when you are having a whale of time. The Immersion Program is nearing it's end as it is. I woke up at 8 today because we had a group meeting to discuss the theme at 9.

The windows movie maker really is a headache, I mean, we still need a theme.

Anyway, went to the laundry and greeted the always smiling auntie.

Wore so nicely just to pose for the camera. I only have this to say, "阿姨,谢谢你" (Auntie, Thank you very much.I went to pack a take-away lunch.

Saw this innocent little girl who seem to pose for me naturally and brightly. Kids are so cute sometimes.

Walked around the campus area after my lunch.

Saw the growing maple leaves in their numbers. And I was left wondering in awe at the beauty of the leaves.

Stayed in my room like a hermit until I went for dinner with 2 Mr Wong, Franice, Winson, Ci Min, Hui Miang and Mengzhen. Went to Nan Ning for the last dinner.

And today, 5 different drinks were served. Introducing(left to right): Coffee, Strawberry, Grape, Mango and Honeydew.

Individually paid 15 yuan for the meal. I was still eating and the others left first.

So in the end, went to the streets to shop for another leather ladies bag for Mr Wong's wife.

Along the way, went to the supermarket to purchase some chocolates. Well, I was always zeroing in chocolates. All I know is that there isn't much variety in chocolate brands so I will just stick to one for now...

Initially, I was asking a lot of questions so that it would be easier to locate a suitable bag. And the problem also lies with the fact that I don't really know how to shop either.

See, Mr Wong was still bargaining for the bag with the shopkeeper who remembered me.

Went to get some bread for my breakfast and some snack during the waiting time as well.

After that, all I can say is that I am 90% done with my packing as it is... The luggage has also increased in load... Oh dear, I hope it's not overweight...

Well, night.

Day 39 - Farewell Gathering

Woke up at 10.52 am. I was spending the whole day slacking until I finally decided to go somewhere in Wuhan.

Finally, after serious consideration, I went over to the laundry auntie and finally decided to go the silk exhibition located near 中山公园.

It's quite a grand affair...

Managed to purchase some silk clothing for family members and chanced upon...

Finally done with Silk shopping and so, I headed over to the bus-stops after much questioning and help from the locals, I managed to end up in 江汉路.

Beef buns(牛肉包). It tastes funny namely because this is my first time trying out such stuff.

I ended up being approached by a random student from a nearby hairstyling school. Initially, I was interested at the offer - A 20 yuan deal to perm my hair. I was thinking, "Seriously?"

The student explained that they were having a class competition as well... Competing to see which class can persuade the most people to come over?

I washed my hair in this basin. There was no hot water from the tap and the student hairstylists(They had their student identification hung over their neck) all had to fetch hot water somewhere else.

I am reminded of the 3rd National Education Message: We must uphold meritocracy and incorruptibility. Seeing all these young adults in the hair styling line, I learnt that like Singapore's own ITE(Instituite of technical Education) hairstyling is open to school dropouts as another means of livelihood.

We provide opportunities for all, according to their ability and effort. I am thankful that Singapore allows school drop outs to be re-educated and able to contribute to society. It's good that people are given opportunities as per ability and their effort to master something they are not used to.

Now, a female hair stylist is going to trim my hair before perming it.

Somehow, when I saw the pink building, I was reminded of a dream I had a long time ago. I didn't know why though...

Afterwards, I managed to find the bus stop with the help of two 哥哥 hairstylists. Thanks!!

I went straight to classroom 701 and sat there until the whole even began, rather listless and tired. Before the even begun, we needed to get the cake that MDE division was in charge of.

Look at that. We still have to sing karaoke later.

And finally, Fire giving a speech with a LSCT girl as a translator.

And Pei Jie with a three layer hat. What a large head she has.

And the local birthday boy today has a total of 5 cakes... Don't you wish it was your birthday instead?

I managed to get the last slice of that chocolate cake though. I was also scooping up all the remaining chocolate flakes into the paper plate.

Look at the cake... The layered cake actually contained wine glasses... So innovative that is, if you'd rather drink wine then eat the cake.

Left the earliest with Sharon (Xiao Ling's room mate) and went to get some supper before heading back to do my blog.

Day 38 - Shopping at 司门口

Had presentation at 9.30 with all of us turning up in formal attire. Well, at least the top half is formal...

When Pei Jie and me arrived, Zee Min's group was already there and so, they were to present first. We came in second and so on.

Masita, Hajar and Zee Min preparing the laggy laptop and the simulation.

Mr Wong's question was really... something I never even noticed until he pointed it out in the model- Our fork truck was wasting time because it was taking time to sort out the cargo...

Xin Hui,Hashanah and Nadiyah's group came in next.

This time, Franice, Ci Min and Mei Yun had more energy then the last presentation.

Lastly, Randolph, Clive and Benedict had their presentation. All three of them sported ties too.

After the whole event, everybody was into photo taking and so, I also got this shot of Masita with Clive's tie and Clive himself.

Afterwards, went to get lunch at MacDonald's with Zee Min before heading back to the hostel room to wait for Anna and Kiwi.

Went shopping at 司门口. (I think that's the street name)

Primary school that we passed by. Reminds me of my own primary school though.

And they are doing exercise that is swifter then Taichi Fist (太极拳). Why am I thinking about ACES day?

As we moved on to keep shopping, we kept rushing into stores whenever we see sales. And for the first time in my life, I was trying on mini-shorts and actually, they are ok since I am so fair.

And we had a photo with the mascot. The poor guy in the suit. I mean, imagine having to wear a costume like this for hours and under the afternoon sun...

We still went shopping as the sun was setting. And on the bridge, we saw...

Many vendors selling their stuff, especially cheap clothing. Even if they weren't cheap, have no fear when you have local friends tagging along. Both 姐姐(elder sisters) were actually bargaining with the store owners all the time.

All these are hand woven by the Lady-boss herself. Even the barbie dolls get some nice clothing due to her nimble and beautiful needle work.

I just realised that all the older generation of woman are fond of knitting, especially after they all retire at the age of 55 plus. This is a form of recreation for women that we will rarely see in Singapore. I find it a pity that not many people are fascinated by knitting and woollen products.

We also passed by some unusual pets that I could not keep...

Unusual pet number 1. Snakes(蛇). Ain't this serpent adorable?

Ok, I wanted this breed of dog as well. A mixed wolf dog with Alaskan heritage with piercing blue eyes.

Unusual pet number 2- Chameleon (变色龙), Ok, Admit that it kind of freaked me out a bit.

And some Guinea pigs or their family.

At last, night falls. And as we head for dinner with Zee Min and Pei Jie pulling us into any shop they fancy along the way...

Check out the lighted Yellow Crane Tower(黄鹤楼) as well as the full moon.

Went for dinner while chatting with Anna and Kiwi. Learnt more about their way of life as well as praising them for being such 'bargaining queens'.

Can you believe that we shopped until 9 plus and yet still feel that we have a lot of ground left uncovered? it's like we are only at the tip of the ice burg.

Reached the room by 10 plus as it is...

Don't expect too much in the last few days as there will be not much activities save for shopping.

Day 37 - Local interation

Was in the room the whole time since I slept to 10. And after that, I kept working on the Flexsim assignment.

Around this time, the repair man came to claim our fused light bulb and told us he will be back later in the afternoon to fix it. Well, we had to bath with the door ajar for 3 days.

And the report which I was in charge of doing.

Finally, managed to slack in the hostel until 6.40 plus before Pei Jie and me went to the back alley. Went to purchase nail polish before realising that we are late.

Pei Jie and me met up with fellow LSCT students with whom all of us went to the interaction night. It's really pathetic a number of MDE students- only a third of us turned up as compared to LSCT who turned up full force.

Mr Wong called me in the lift presumably to hurry us.

When we arrived, went into one of the classroom whereby Mr Wong scolded us for being late and making the students wait.

Anyway, the show must go on!

Mr Wong is so.... I mean, he pulled me over to boys to begin the conversation... I was like, "Thanks, Mr Wong, Thanks." Please note my sarcasm.

All to soon I was chatting with the local students from other courses in English and Mandarin. All the 大哥哥 and 大姐姐们 were so funny and amusing.

Finally at 9.20 plus went back to my hostel room with Henry(A girl!!!) and Ann. We are all set to go shopping tomorrow.

Presentation tomorrow at 9.30... Ah, last one. We must all go for it.

Day 36 - Couple Drama

Was awoken by Stephanie. Thanks, girl. We were supposed to assemble by 7-8 but all 3 of us slept until quite late.

Anyway, the 1 hour plus journey to the private WUST school enables me to catch a little catnap.

Apparently, the area we were heading to today was some camp thingy located near the ECE students hostel. I am going to have some nightmares about camps again...

While waiting or us to get out from the toilet...

We spot two overgrown kids on the see-saw. Benedict and Weiguang look so child-like.

Finally we were eventually re-arranged into 4 teams. We were in Team 1 later named as Teamers.

Say hi to one of the instructor as well as some of our group members.

And the Team Captain designing the team flag as Francie, Stephanie and Seok(not in picture) attempted come up with the team cheer.

Finally, the first game of the day.

Our group was passing the flag around as no one wanted to be the team captain. We were all mixed around to interact with other groups.

And firstly, introduction to our flag as well as the cheers.

Using only newspapers, make a giant hamster wheel(tank wheel) whereby all of us will have to compete with other teams by moving along the joined newspapers strips. No glue or additional material is given.

Our team hard at work with commander-in-charge as well as our team captain suggesting the pros and cons of certain design.

Still hard at work as the clock is ticking.

And at last, we all had a strategy- To fold all sides of the newspaper and move as one before pulling the wheel to move forward under the command, "1,2, pull!".

Teamers won. While it is true that the newspapers was broken at one point, it was quickly fixed and we kept up the lead all the way.

Compared to the rest of the team, we fared a lot better despite our different views and some miscommunication. However, the majority of the team followed instructions and in turn also gave out helpful suggestions and actions(getting rocks to stack on the newspapers)

This reminds me of the 6th NE message: We have confidence in our future.United, determined and well-prepared, we have what it takes to build a bright future for ourselves, and to progress together as one nation.

From this simple team building game, we can see the spirit and bond of the future workforce. As the friends we make will last a lifetime, it is possible that we will interact with one another at work and still possess the zest for the teamwork that will shape our future.

From this game, we can say our team is well prepared(following the commands), united(in the game), and determined (we are all determined to win). This 3 traits will be important in our future.

We are Team Teamers! We are the champions!

We drew a large goofy and feminine looking face along with a bow tie.

Explanation goes: The eyes(with eyelashes) represent the girls for cuteness. The teeth(with a hint of black) and nose represent boys for toughness. The bow tie where we all signed our name represents us all, bonded as one.

After the first game, we proceeded to have lunch and were told to assemble by 1.15. We followed the ECE students who have stayed in the area for 5 weeks plus to the canteen.

Their canteen is like, so much better then ours de. Ah well...

The 清真(halal) store had this 消毒(poison removal) chopstick dispenser. That's something Singapore should have since we all practice food hygiene.

After the meal, followed some of the ECE students to check out their hostel. I should not have been there at all because now we were all marvelling at their room.

They have a common hall with television! Hey... good sia. And they get the quiet nights rest while we have to content with the occasional honking of cars.

And the part that irk me the most. Why do we have so different beds? They have cotton lining bed while all we have is a wooden plank. They are getting hotel treatment here...

Much later on, Hashanah could not find her bag and was mock blaming Jit Siong. When she finally did found her bag, she practically bashed him up.

Made way back to the area for more fun when we stopped by the provision shop for some ice cream.

Played the game whereby we have to supply our group representative with whatever the person wanted us to give.... Nice way to warm us up.

Finally, spilt into 2 groups to try out 3 activities. First up is...

Well, it's my turn to climb the obstacle course.

Actually, when I reached the bridge I was thinking, "Woah, that's far," and then just walked over to the edge before jumping.

Finally, the thrill of 'following gravity' for once.

And it's over. Next up, we have the 'Trust in me to catch you' game.

Naturally we have to support those who were supporting the person falling down.

Morale of the story, it's good to be light, you don't stress the people supporting you.

And here I go...

I sat up as quickly as possible. think I landed too hard on my backside.

Waited for the rest as we finally proceeded to the rock wall-Last activity is rock climbing.

Me climbing for the first time. Ehh.. It's really easy and gets harder at the top...

I wasn't satisfied with my first climb as I was withdrawn for not wearing the helmet properly. I decided to go again.

Second time, naturally, my arm muscles were even more strenuous then before. I wasn't good with arm power but I kept trying to get my footing again and again.

Sadly, I failed to reach the top and was soon send plummeting back to earth, my arm aching.

However, Weiguang was like, "I am impressed with your never-say-die-attitude". This echoes what Zee Min said as, "Not bad. it's the determination that counts," Guys, thanks but I have always tried to strive higher.

Mr Wong told us the bus would arrive at 6.20 and so, we went deeper into the park.

Even the exterior of the hostel or service apartments look so inviting as compared to ours. It's ok, I'll accept what life gives me anyday.

In the bus, we were alerted by photographer Randolph to the red setting sun. Managed to capture the red sun excatly in the middle. It's a moving vehicle though.

Finally, we get to rest a little and will do the presentation on Thursday.

Day 35 - Cave Splunking

Woke up at 6 and was given the morning call 4 times by 3 different people-the tour guide and 2 Mr Wongs.

Went to 绿林古兵赛(LuLin Fort Village).

Liu Xiu... is not related to Liu Bei.

And the gate being heavily guarded by 'soldiers'.

And once again, we are climbing up the stairs.

And a natural mineral that was used to make some jewellery.

And this hole. It's said that on a certain year, the sunlight will be aligned with the hole in the rock. This sign will mean the arrival of a king.

And some ancient housing with mud bricks.

The owner of the house. Actually, the house above only contains his statue...

And this is a 2,000 year old vine that wraps around the mountain.

Named 生死恋(Eternal Love). A vine embracing a dead willow. A lot in common with Romeo and Juliet, if you ask me.

The stone behind me has s story somewhat similar to the 'Oath under the peach blossom trees' in Romance of the three kingdoms.

The Moon pool, sister of the sun pool. Shaped like the crescent moon.

汉天门(Hantian Gate) is a natural formation that is shaped like the Chinese character for people(人) .

And I caught a male model again. Clive, you have proven your point... Although, I have no idea what it is.

And the 鸳鸯树(YuanYuan Trees-Lover Trees). Pray to the trees for luck in babies as well as love life. Guess which one's female.

The fence is a good place to rest. After climbing again and again...

You know, we weren't allowed to pass over the fence but still...

Finally, enter the ancient South Camp.

In ancient times, the flag will be more vibrant while the soldier would patrol the area.

Yes. When you step inside the area.

A word of advice. From here on, all are natural landscape that will resemble certain objects if you use your observation and imagination powers.

A rock formation said to be a buddha greeting the guests. Needless to say, the middle part is the tummy.

And here we go towards the more 刺激(exciting) part of the cave, 南天门(Heavenly South Gate when translated, I think)

See the painting of a man on the wall? Said to be a tasoist as the area wass known as 八卦炼丹炉(Eight Trigrams Oven)

And here we see the tortoise who fell in love with the toad. The toad is the stone at the bottom.

Said to be a bird that brings happiness. Could it mean a magpie?

To exit this place, we need to climb up the never-ending spiral staircase.

Finally, we are out of here.

But still, it's another 4 hours journey back to our hostel.

And I stayed up relatively late to finish the Flexsim software for presentation. Night!

Day 34 - LuLing Resort

Woke up quite early for a bit of breakfast before the trip.

It's so misty that for a second there I thought I was in Genting highlands.

Walked with Masita, Hajar and Pei Jie to the main gate.

And captured the moon peeking out behind the clouds in the foggy morning.

Now the 4 hour plus journey begins...

At the rest-stop. Managed to take the reflections of Seok and Randolph.

And one of the worst toilet experience- A toilet along the rest area with only 2 cubicles in the area. One was filled with human feces that wasn't flushed while the other was filled with blood and vomit. Which would you have chosen?

At last, the bumpy journey was over. We have three tour guides all sir-named 张. So easy to remember...

The most annoying part was that the bus driver kept horning at passing cars with or without reasons. Our bus sounded like a 霸王(tyrant overlord) on the journey as well as having the occasional 过山车(roller coaster) feeling.

And the slender willow overshadowing the lake and hills on the opposite bank.

The pavilion we never got a chance to eat in as it was booked.. The water's crystal clear...

Lunch is served!

Went to check-in our resort room after the meal. Felt like a caged animal with people peering in from the glass windows to watch me still finishing the last chunks of meat.

The room. It's so comfortable that I was complaining why could we not stay another night here at least.

We were given an hour to rest while I just watched a variety show on television.

At 2.30, we assembled and.... here we go!

First stop, Belle Valley (美人谷).

And yes, we need to purchase tickets as well..

A boat(which we never took) near a tiny waterfall. It's constructed of bamboo...

And these trees are... Ginko trees which are now sprouting.

Standing there and feeling the spray of the water droplets in force is rather refreshing.

And bamboo. Only there's no panda here.

Peacocks. The tour guide was saying, "只要孔雀看见比它更美的东西，它会开它的尾巴的"(Should the peacock see something more beautiful, it would open it's tail feathers)...

And this fossilised tree trunk makes a great spot for hide and seek as well as photo-taking.

This area gives me a 'eco bridal' feel. And Zee Min's in the picture again... as usual.

Legend has it that this stone slab was once slept by a queen. I don't think I will aleep here though.

The waterfall is cascading as Zee Min hogs the camera... I merely enjoy the viewing.

Went back to the hotel area and crossed the suspension bridge...

They cultivate 花菇(mushroom) on logs as cash crop.

The logs used for cultivation of mushroom or as a source of firewood.

Is this a stable? Nope. It's a residence.

And some of the fruits. At first glance, don't it resemble rumbutans(红毛丹) that are dried up?

I asked the tour-guide Zhang Hao ifI am able to enter the area and check out the place. Luckily, the owner complied and so, I was able to sneak a glance at the shed cum ome area.

Day 33 - Shopping for tradition

Went to 汉正街 with Xiao Ling and Zee Min. Actually, most of the students in the MDE division also went to 汉正街 but we did not run into each other as the area is relatively large.

It's a very wet day. It's a hassle to buy things as the umbrella keeps getting in the way.

So hungry... finally ate something that remind me of 'Ham Chim Peng'.

Me and my fried treat!! It's a deflected balloon that's tasty.

Tired and went into the shopping centre to rest as I drank my hot milk and ate the beef noodles.

And finally, had the energy to shop some more. I had already bought 2 shirts- long sleeved at a rather cheap price...

Was looking for the toilet when we stumbled into a 旗袍(Chinese traditional dress) shop. The first model was initially Zee Min.

She remarked that she picked pink because she will appear more gentle and lady-like. Really ma?

Somehow, it was so nice that I also went to try on the blue one after seeing it's lovely light colour.

Day 32 - Shopping and dinner

Woke up at 1 plus and went to laundry before setting off with Zee Min. It's a free and easy day today and many of them have also taken off for their own shopping.

First stop, the post office. Zee Min really is a 'direction idiot'(路痴). Did not even knew there was a shortcut?

Why are we there? Well, apparently, cannot even send the sword she purchased at Wudang back to Malaysia as a parcel as it is still considered a 'weapon'.

Went to 建设二路 to shop. Zee Min managed to purchase a covering for her house's sofa while I was like, giving her a 不耐烦(extremely irritated) look. I don't really like to linger too long in a certain store or I will be damn listless...

Finally, went to MacDonald's for lunch.

Interesting. Workers who were doing the pipe or whatever it was underground were all dressed like army uniform....

Shopped around the area and I finally found my backpack priced at 312 yuan after a discount. Ahh, I finally was able to shop rather well...

Got a little bit lost but in the end, went back to our hotel to place my laundry as well as to rest a while and met up with Xin Hui, Weiguang, Nadiyah and Hashanah to go to Mr Loh's house.

I still hated the stairs as it was always dimly lit at night.

Finally, arrived there to watch 赤壁二(Red Cliff Part 2). But somehow, it got cut off and so, we transformed it into a karaoke session instead.

Day 31 - Hair makeover

For the whole day, I managed to sleep until 10 plus as the lessons will be starting at 3. So, finalised some work as the two vendor sisters came to our room to sell their stuff to Pei Jie, Hajar and Masita.

Zee Min is so nice, I will be getting a bracelet from her too. Thanks, 小叮当.

Managed to woof down some 兰州 noodles- My favourite 刀削面. The presentation will now commence.

Wasn't well rehearsed and still first group to present.... Think I manged to talk a long time based on the Ishikawa diagram...

Finally, went to have dinner with Masita, Hajar, Pei Jie and Zee Min. I ate 羊肉炒饭(Mutton fried rice). Mutton!!! I missed you, but you were so pricey!!

Zee Min went back to purchase water...

We wanted to do hair treatment but first... shopping time!! They are the shopping queens.. and they managed to buy stuff too...

I was introduced to a hairstylist who trimmed my hair into another 'mushroom'. Never mind though, I found it to be nice. My hairstylist turns out to be a 21 year old guy. I thought he was like 28 at least...

Overall, I found it worthwhile and cheap- I pay 18 yuan for treatment and 19 for the haircut. How can I find these price in Singapore?

Much later, went to Zee Min's room to obtain the facial cleanser but it turns into a manicure period.. with manicurist Zee Min.

My right hand did not fare any better...

No plans for tomorrow yet, maybe I'll end up doing shopping again, somehow...

Day 30 - New campus tour plus test

Woke up at 6 today. Got 油条(Fried dough-like thing. Crispy though) for breakfast.

Assembled by 8 at the main gate. All of us were waiting for Zee Min, fashionably late as per usual. She did a funny thing, she was running off in another direction and we were all laughing and someone pointed out she looked like a KFC worker.

And the hour long bus ride wasn't any better... By the time I arrived at my destination, I was a little unwell due to motion sickness but it passed soon enough.

It's so high tech that we are denied access unless you have a card to tap for entry... We all were allowed as a staff came and opened the gate for us.

First stop, the museum to learn more about the school's history.

I still have little idea who is this guy as I wasn't really listening in. Zee Min was like, "This guy nearly has the same name as me..."

Seeing her do that, I am reminded of the 3rd NE message: We must uphold meritocracy and incorruptibility.We provide opportunities for all, according to their ability and effort.

I am sure that the students all in China who masters English can come to Singapore, where they will be employed according to their abilities and efforts. Our china classmates are already a good example.

To get around, it's good exercise to climb on the stone slabs. Actually,as long as you have the momentum. you would not fall over nor lose your balance at all...

Randolph is giving the 'patient' some mouth to mouth resuscitation. It's a useful skill to have...

The simulation equipment that medical students will learn to use. A breathing machine as well as a container for the equipment that uses electricity that we often see in the movies.

And finally, medical students practicing and learning from the dummy simulation.

And we are all gathered here to present some skit to the local medical students. In MDE, only Xiang Yu and Weiguang's group were to present. (Xiang Yu, Seok, Nadiyah, Me, Weiguang, Zee Min, Xin Hui and Masita)

We have 2 hosts who work well together.... Different divisions as well...

Only Zee Min can amuse me to no end. She was lying down and ended up with the paper(she prepared beforehand) stuck to her...

Some game that goes on to, "Telephone". The two animals were a pig and a kangaroo. Only we could see the kangaroo but pig was turned into a rabbit instead..

We went for lunch while talking with the local students and interacted with them while our lecturers went with their lecturers.

Went off to walk around the lake while chatting with the local students. I had to exercise up some rough pathway but manageable.

Took this lake view (It is without a doubt, a lake).

See, I called it 鬼城(Ghost City). There's no one there....

Bade goodbye to the local students after photo taking and some leaving of contact details(Masita, you popular gal). Went back to school as we still had to do test 2.

Erm, I am more familiar with 2 local guy students, both I address as 哥哥(elder brother). One is 王哥哥(Sorry, not good with names) and the other I use the nickaname 小象(Little elephant). Come on, I can't remember chinese names easily especially after meeting them once only...

Reached school at 3. Went to revise and slack until 4 whereby we proceeded to the classroom for the test. Once again, I did my best...

Went down the lift with lecturer Sandra. Oh, so she's the one eveyone was talking about. Meet one of our IS lecturer!!

She bought a bike priced at 400 yuan. Healthy lifestyle.

Zee Min wanted to try the bike but was unsucessful...

Went for dinner at the 清淡(plain, islamic food) restaruant. She really keeps gloating all because she saw a 帅哥 at the basketball tournement. Grr.... I am not intersted!!

And shooped around the area before going to purchase some chocolate drink.

She scribbled another message for the 3rd batch of OIP students to come and see it.

And that's all as we are all doing our assignment 2. Presentation tomorrow... 加油!

And we managed to catch a glimpse of fireworks. People here can just use fireworks as expression or emotional outlets, i think it's cool.

Day 29 - Happy Birthday, Hui Miang

Woke up as per usual and went to class to celebrate a birthday party.

In class, Xiang Yu and Seok (they really always stick close together for some reason.. They are my Group Leader and Assistant group leader respectively) bought in a huge cake covering.. It's time to celebrate soon.

And all too soon, the birthday girl arrived.

Such a large cake managed to be finished by Ci Min, Zee Min, Masita and Hui Miang. Scary ah...

And we are gossiping...

Test 1 was returned and I scored well. Which part is easy, Mr Wong? It may be opened book but still I scored 0/7 for one section of the test. A handful of us scored the range of 70-80 plus with the highest being at 86, Randolph is 'owning'.

And I scored 81... And Zee Min kept exclaiming that I 'cheated her feelings'. How? I studied by reading it thoroughly once only...

Went for lunch with Zee Min.. Had the usual 牛肉刀削面.

Bumped into Masita, Pei Jie and Hajar shopping at the same store Pei Jie bought her bracelet(手链). Pei Jie is the ultimate shopping queen, still buying stuff at the street.

This time round, Zee Min got a custom-made hand phone strap for her friend and a bracelet for herself with the alphabet 'Z'.

Zee Min took out ear rings that she brought over from Malaysia. Most of them were too elegant for my taste..

Her ear-rings are really nice. This little 'doreamon' never wears the ear-rings she bought over from Malaysia. How can silver be priced at 10 ringgit?? I want to go shop for ear rings already. Sheesh...

Went out to buy dinner with Pei Jie. Got the 汤包(A dumpling with soup as well) and 咖啡奶茶(Coffee Milk Tea)... Long time no bubble tea...

At 9 pm, will be heading off for reharsals at Masita's room for the presentation tomorrow...

Day 28 - Nearly Late

Been having intermittent sleeping patterns. I slept at 1 plus only to be woken up at 7 by Pei Jie's alarm clock. I fell asleep again and sleep until 10.22. I was like, "What the hell? I slept way past the time I wanted to wake up."

Thankfully, classes start at 11 today. I realised that I had silenced the alarm clock when I woke up at 7... Silly me...

Anyway, it wasn't a proper lesson, I mean, we were done with the modules and all that's left is to discuss on the assignment 2.

Anyway, got back my test paper on the lab test. See, so many crosses. (Front View)

And the (Back view) markings... Mr Wong always tabulate the marks wrongly on my paper.

Got a 24/60 instead of 24/40. Nearly freak me out...

Ladies and Gentleman, my dismal score of 58. Well, I wasn't expecting much because I wasn't very good with the software. Hey, at least I didn't have to re-take the test again.

After lessons. hung back with Zee Min to clarify our doubts.

Went to lunch, arranging to meet Pei Jie outside the Halal restaurant. Arranged to meet Pei Jie outside the Halal restaurant.

Finally, I have to conclude that we are the most kiasu(怕输-Scared to lose) group. We already started and somewhat completed our assignment 2 by forfeiting shopping. An additional note, most of the others are still shopping and haven't even started.

Hui Miang! Why is she smiling? Well, she's having a ball of time on Pei Jie's bed.

Look at the two of them clowning around as we are discussing about the assignment. Guys, please focus. And Auntie Pei Jie looks like she's found a nice chicken...

Now we are talking. So serious. This time, i am the one slacking as I am taking the pictures?

I love Pei Jie's pose here. In her left hand, she's holding on to her laptop and showing us the points while writing. Now that's what I call multi-tasking.

Finally, we managed to finish about 90% of the work and now, we are all currently slacking...

Ahh, Mr Wong has to correct most of our presentation. Never mind. So right now, I have finished editting the Value Analysis and honestly, it's really testing me my Logistics principles...

At any rate, here are my reflections on the 2 industry visits. The Wuguang Steel industry as well as the Fibre Optics Company.

Singapore will undoubtedly move towards the fibre Optics company namely due to the value being added, lack of resources, our qualification as well as the potential for this industry in the next decade.

Firstly, Value. Here, we are talking about value added products and services. As fibre optics is more technologically enhanced, value is high and wanted by cnsumers.

Secondly, Singapore has limited resources as compared to our neighbours. In order for our econnomy to thrive, Singapore will have to be more productive through the use of less resource that are of good quality to manafacture the required goods.

Next,with Singapore's high standard of education, it is possible to employ the next generation of workers who will lead the industry to new levels.

Lastly, fibre optics is a booming industry that can be expanded over the next few years. Thus, Singapore must 'strike while the iron is hot' to have a market share in this industry.

Day 27 - Shopping trip

Woke up at around 11 plus as it was a free and easy day ad I had no initial plan in mind. I went to the laundry first thing after my bath. And at the doorway, I ran into Mei Yun.

The Auntie charged me the usual for my laundry. She's always amazed at the amount of stuff I bring to her each time.

Went back and once again, ran into Mei Yun. I decided to tag along for the trip to 汉正街 hoping that I could find something to buy.

Went with Winson, Seok, Stephanie and Mei Yun at 1 plus.

See, we are all trying to get to our destination... and it's really not easy as we had to be careful and elbow some of the people.

Who says Wuhan have no high-rise building? I prove that theory wrong!! Looks rather old huh?

We also had to ask around for directions to get to our destination.

And one of the smaller scale transportation..

Moved on into one of the streets whereby we met up with Xiang Yu who was carrying a packet of toilet papers...

Along the way, look at the demolished buildings. Looking at the picture itself, I am reminded of 3 NE messages.

Firstly, we must ourselves defend Singapore. As with history suggestion, nuff said. Also, using an analogy, I will link the demolished walls to Singapore and the machines to other forces. If we do not defend our country, see the end result?

Secondly, we have to defend ourselves because 'No one owes Singapore a Living'. It's every man for themselves and so, Singapore will be pushed aside for self interest. We have to ensure that this does not happen rather, we have to turn challenges into opportunities as we survive in this competitive world and prosper for many years to come.

Lastly, we have 'Confidence in our Future'. The analogy is that for old buildings to be demolished, new ones will be built. Like the process of building new buildings, we stay united, determined and well-prepared. This way, we have what it takes to build a bright future for our selves, and to progress together as one nation as everybody is involved wit the process.

Had lunch at fake KFC again...

Went into the factory sale of Addidas. Nothing much and so, while waiting for the others to be done with their shopping, Stephanie and I were camera whoring.

Coma Shopping center mainly caters to Sports gear and clothing. It's all factory produced and sold here. Up to 8 levels... they should rename it 'Sports complex'.

Passed by the 'Tom and Jerry' shop. Mum!!! This is for you, your favourite cartoon after all.

Decided to head over to computer city (电脑城) with the gang. And there, sadly, we found that the shop's already closed. So, we shopped around the area and saw...

Puppies!!! Oh my god, they are so adorable. And the price at a mere 250+ yuan. But I noticed that most of the puppies were shivering from the cold.

I touched the brown furred puppy which in turn, playfully nipped me. One word-Awwwww..

There's a Maltese in here. How do I know? Well, I heard a lady asking the owner on the bred of the dog she was holding. Priced at 250 yuan... Ginger should have seen this..

Anyway, even if I did managed to purchase the dog here cheaply, back in Singapore, AVA will have to quarantine it and we have to pay the bills and also, the necessities of the dog. In short, the dog will cost a fortune should I bring it back to Singapore.

Took the long bus journey and went to 建设二路(Street name) to eat dinner. Talk about 巧(Coincidence), we met the 2 Mr Wong and Mr Chong.

They already had their dinner at the restaurant we are headed to.

So, we went to have our dinner as well as a lot of laughter due to Stephanie's attempt at match-making Seok and Xiang Yu. I kept laughing to no end.

Finally, went back to the school building.

Went back to claim my laundry before returning to my hostel to blog...

And after shopping for so long, it felt good to actually buy something although, Zee Min's reaction is really saying, "Huh? Shop so long only bought a Tee?" Well, sorry la, I not the shopping type.

Day 26 - A wet Outing

It's been raining the whole time we were out for the trip. It means... the temperature has been plummeting back to 7 degrees.

Went to ... err... I am not so good with street names.

Anyway, here we are, walking under umbrellas in the street.

I shopped around with Xin Hui. Nadiyah and Hashanah initially. Soon, we were joined by Mr Wong.

Went to eat KFC... I manged to chow down a burger, and another 3 extra wings as well as milo.

Much later on, i went around the area with MR Wong as I wanted to scout out the area more. It's really Singapore's version of Bugis Street, I mean, it's 3 to 5 shopping malls are located beside each other.

In the end, I never buy anything. As for the others I met back at another fast food restaurant, they already had bags and Mei Yun seemed to be carrying a large stuffed toy as well.

Saw this very 'historical' advertisement. Whaha.. Cleopatra loves chicken?

It says 汉口江滩. Actually, after this building, there's really not much to see save for the evening time.

That's when we will see the florescent lights lighting up the shoreline against the night sky. Said to be beautiful and romantic.

Why do we keep meeting the same tour guides for all the weekends? But this is the last week we may be seeing them for a long, long time.

And finally, went back to the hostel only to find the 阿姨 (Auntie) in charge of the hostel watching a re-run of the show, 大长今 (the Korean drama) and so, went in to watch the last bit.

Unlike Singapore, dramas here are broad casted up to 4 hours a day. Now, if only we had a television in our room...

Ahh... I saw Da Chang Jing... Not bad, there's still the old fashioned television here...

Day 25 - Student Chief

Went for industry visit at 8. Went to Fibre Optics industry... (The use of light rather then the traditional movements of electrons)

Look at the diagram.. it shows the whole process and quality control starts from the top when the rod is heated and changed into liquid form, another check. Finally, last check at the bottom before it is twisted into reels.

After which, we went and see the actual process but we are not allowed to take pictures of.

Look, these stone slabs look alike seem to be emitting smoke. I thought that it was dry ice... but it's too dangerous to transport it thus.

Then, as the bus also passed by Walmart, several of us alighted with Mr Wong and from there, we went our separate ways. I headed to Pizza hut with Stephanie, Xiang Yu, Seok and Mei Yun(Sorry, I always confuse her name)

Pepsi with a lemon in it. It's really less gas. And the total bill tally's at 212. We each paid for what we eat. I ended up paying 30+ bucks. Convert it to 7 plus in Singapore... Quite ok... I think...

And here, Stephanie and the others were utilising the utensils while trying to maintain their 形象(image) while all I went was, "Since when do you all have 形象?"

Xiang Yu ordered the set meal and this is his pizza. It's so small and still he offered to share it with us. Thanks, but, you eat la, Xiang Yu.

And out Hawaiian pizza that made us wait for 17 minutes... Cheese and more cheese?

Afterwards we went shopping around the area for a thermo flask for Seok's sister. In the end, Stephanie and Xiang Yu went up in the arcade for Free Toss Basketballs.

Go Xiang Yu go! He managed to get 38 points.

Stephanie, 加油! Not bad, she got 36 points.

Went to StarBucks to purchase the thermos flask and in return, we get free drinks... Well, it's free in my case because I wasn't buying anything.

Finally, went back to the hostel and met up with Mr Wong to go to Mr Loh's house. We met up with Mr Loh and took a 5 minutes walk to his apartment. Not too shabby, Mr Loh.

Xiang Yu is really like a traditional hawker. He has the skills as well... Impressive, I never knew he was that multi-talented.

In a chinese newspaper, this picture caught my eye. The headlines read, "If women ruled the world..."

I was also laughing to the jokes inside there.

And at last, we, student chiefs, have cooked up a spread. It's simple but seriously, now I know how my maid actually can stand doing this tedious work.

Ate our own cooking and soon, joined by Clive, Randolph, Masita and Hajar.

Watched the 'diving' championships channel at Mr Loh's place. Stephanie, Mei Yun, Seok and Xiang Yu left first and soon, Mr Wong and me left.

It was freaking cold by then and also dark because there was inadequate lighting. Finally, went back to my dorm room and blogged as well...

Day 24 - Presentation to Locals

As per usual, we woke up to have lessons at 10.

In class, I a a left-hander. Not really, more like 'left hand poser'.

Mr Wong and the lesson. Last quiz for the whole module. So happy!!

After the quiz, went to eat lunch with Xiang Yu, Nadiyah, Stephanie and Seok Hui.

The 服务人员(service crew) were like hurrying us to finish our meal as they were closing the place.

Anyway, went back to Stephanie's room to rehearse for the presentation before meeting again at the corridor to get to the place.

It was there that most of us met Mr Wong, who was dressed. Also, a little bird stole our attention and hearts as most of us took photos of it until it finally got scared and flew away. Aww... I never even took it yet.

We are inside discussing about whose turn is it to go first with the ISCT group.

Finally, we decided to let ISCT go first. You know, they were good at tempting most of us to remember about Singapore's delicacy- Now I want to eat Laska thanks to them.

Finally, as they ended the talk, Hashanah, Zee Min and me went up first to talk about our courses with relation to MDE.

Have to give it to Zee Min, she hogged the mike and was entertaining but too long winded.

Finally, my group was to present first. At the end of the day, I ended up being the narrator and had to restrain my laughter as everyone was laughing due to Xiang Yu's acting as well as al the times I went, "K ,Pause!" to explain.

Everyone thought that skit was rather funny and amusing and Mr Wong remarked that we were good as we were able to turn a boring topic- Singapore's transportaion mode, and turn it into an amusing skit.

Weiguang's group then followed up was also amusing, especially Zee Min's spitting act. Even I was laughing to it as well as the Hokkien song from the movie 'Money No Enough 2'.

And, need to learn more about Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering? (Combination of Science and Engineering)

MDE watched too much 小娘惹(The little Noyna). Randolph presenting about Paranakan culture.

At the grand finale, MDE started singing 'Rasa Sayang' leaving the difficult parts to Hashanah, Nadiyah and Zee Min to sing. I have to admit, I find it rather stupid...

And sang a Singapore song with the lyrics, "Because in Singapore, Singapore, our hearts are big and wide you'll find..." with the ISCT.

Went for dinner afterwards.

The restaurant I went to had anime shows. I wanted to watch it but I was even more hungry.

Did I mention that 8 of us ran in into the lecturers? What a coincidence. You know how I can e happy in eating here? As long as the lecturers treat, that's the best.

And after dinner, we part way with Seok, MengZhen and me heading back to the dormitory first.

Day 23 - Flexism Test

As my blog title have stated, we had our Flexsim simulation software test today.

I woke up at 9 and woke Pei Jie up for the first batch test - A group of us do not have Flexsim working on our computers(Most of us were using Fujitsu) and so, we are in the second batch so that we can borrow other people's computer.

Anyway, me Xin Hui and Weiguang for breakfast. To be honest, I could not finish the breakfast- I ordered 鸡蛋炒面(Egg Fried noodles).

Finally, test time.

After I was done with my test, I played around with the system on Zee Min's computer and made some human stacking. Cannot be seen on the computer but it was supposed to stack a maximum of 60 people.

And my answer for the test results. I really don't care if it's right or wrong, I am more concerned with whether I can run the simulation to get the answer.

Afterwards, I went back to my hostel room until 2 and headed to the classroom, being late. But in the end, found out that the classroom venue changed because the room was in use and so, we squeezed into another room.

Before the lesson, how about a little story and some jokes?

We are all bored.. to a certain extent.

And finally, the highlight of the day:

We had a formation to start singing "Rasa Sayang Eh".

Learnt that "Eh lihat nona jauh" means, "Eh, look at that pretty girl" and I was thinking, "Oh, lols."

For dinner, went out with Hashanah, Xin Hui and Weiguang for fake KFC. Along the way, stopped by to purchase this baked prata in a tin that tasted nice, especially with chili on it.

Day 22 - Monotone a Day

I woke up at 9 and managed to slack all the way to afternoon class at 1.

Finally, seeing Zee Min do the Flexism in class, I was relieved because the test will not be that difficult. Since Flexism cannot operate on my computer, therefore, I have to borrow Zee Min's computer resulting in me being in the second session-11 to 12.

After class, went with Xin Hui, Hashanah, Nadiyah and Weiguang to watch them tempting me with ice cream. Went back to my messy dormitory to put down my bag and soon, I am ready to hit the back alley.

Purchased some local snacks and then went to Group Leader's room (Xiang Yu). Met up with Seok and discussed more about the presentation and skit we wanted to do for our interaction with the local students.

There were some funny moments such as Xiang Yu dancing to the music.

At last, Nadiyah called on me by 6 plus for dinner and once again, had 牛肉刀削面 for dinner.

Did I mention that Nadiyah's a really hesitant shopper. Kept asking us(Weiguang, Xinhui, Hashanah and me) for opinions. I find it somewhat amusing becuse after paying for 2 coloured pencil cases, she wondered if she could switch it with another darker coloured one she preferred.

And saw something interesting tonight. Something I assumed as 鬼火(Ghostly fire). Actually is something like a hot-air ballon made of paper that is carried by the wind. But from the ground, it resembled a flare against the night sky.

And right now, I am blogging about this again... Nothing much during the schooling days anyway.

Day 21 - Usual Day

No morning class and so, I was able to rest for quite sometime. I deserve the rest!

Our lesson today was relatively late because Mr Wong began the day by reinforcing about China's history and compare it to other ancient civilisations. In contrast, China's 5000 year history is nothing when compared to Egypt and Asia.

I don't find it boring, on fact, I find it rather nice and intriguing. Honestly, I also wondered why I never really took history...

Surprise, Mr Wong managed to get a wireless connection there. See, the timeline is as recent as year 2000 AD and dates as far back as 1000 BC.

We also pestered Mr Wong to show us some photos from all his trip.

The 'Blue Mosque' in Istanbul, Turkey(As Mr Wong graciously pointed out). Amazing that such architecture exists.

Also, it seems that religion has also been crossed over because of being conquered or due to intermarriages that combines religions. Interesting...

See, Mr Wong is happy to explain about History. Despite his claims that he isn't interested in history.

What I learnt for today.... Nuff said.

Went shopping at a nearby mini mart to purchase some chocolates and finally bought take-away from MacDonald's.

I felt so cool to stroll around the school's vicinity and absorb the surroundings while keeping a look-out for useful shops. I did a lot of thinking...

And that's all... Ok, it's short so yea, don't blame me...

Day 20 - 累死我了(Freaking Tired)

After a night at the hotel, i was still relatively tired by only having a few hours of sleep. Anyway, we had to check out first and then we had our breakfast.

Next, another bus ride to Mount Wudang's halfway point as buses are not allowed to go on any higher.

And the warm-up has begun as we begun walking towards the start of the climb.

This time round, see the lake there. Another small scale model of the Three Forges Dam Project... Nice.

And the horror of stairs or so-called, "Gateway to Heaven". I was among the last few once again due to lack of physical fitness and I also bought chocolate biscuits from the shop to replenish my energy while resting.

By the time I reached the Yellow Dragon Submit, I was panting heavily and the best part is that I am not even halfway there.

Saw many devotees bringing along incense offerings as they scaled through the mountains. They reminded me of an NE message.

That of preserving racial and religious harmony. Compared to Singapore, China has 56 ethnic groups and therefore, it is critical to maintain religious harmony. In Singapore, we have 4 main racial groups namely, Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasians. But that does not mean we do not have any minorities.

That's why we have to ensure that we preserve racial harmony at all times so as not to encounter any unrest due to ignorance of another's culture.

Caught up with Benedict, Ci Min and Winson. Soon, Winson was lagging behind and pretty soon, had to get into the sedan. Initial price is at 160 yuan but never fear, with Mr Wong at the helm, we get it to 80 yuan.
The 皇帝出宫(Emperor has let the palace) feeling. I really pity the workers. they toil so hard to ferry people and yet, they only make 20 yuan each time as the others are sent to the Gemba Support and Development area.(The area that does not add customer value directly)

What I do admire is their ability to never give up despite being rather tired.

After walking for many more hours, with my legs getting more and more numbed, we finally arrive at yet, another set of stairs. At least before we climb again, we could rest here at 永古千秋. (In English, translated to Forever ancient thousand autumn)

Looking at this picture, my initial thought was, "Oh my lord." In the end, I counted that it contains approximately 517 steps. I can just climb the vertical Marathon if I do this everyday huh?

And the view as we managed to rest yet again... The mountains here are great in echos. Seriously, can hear fain cries of echoes.

We have finally reached the peak whereby by then, I was utterly exhausted to climb any further. So, I never get to see the temple that is located at the peak of Mount Wudang. Besides, there were too many people jostling and shoving and so, I didn't even bother to enter it.

Ironic really as I climbed all the way there to see the famed temple and yet I never get to see it as I still had to climb stairs.

Go buy a lock and lock your goodwill and luck(including love luck) and remember to throw away the key. We can say 锁着他们的爱(Lock up their love)... Corny here.

Me: Then say if a couple locked it and threw the key away and then later they separated, what about the lock?
Mr Wong: (Thinks) Call a locksmith to climb out here and unlock it?
Me: (Laughs)

Finally, managed to go join the cable car queue whereby we saw 4 china men cutting queue. It really is their culture and they do it normally. But I think we cannot stand it but we are too lazy to do anything anyway.

Also, when we, ladies, were queueing up for a toilet, a local tourist (from another part of china) came into the toilet supposedly to check on her friend. In the end, she managed to get the cubicle much to our dismay and someone uttered out, "***k that b****".

In the cable car view. I was sitting with Mr Wong and at the same time, also snacking on treats given by Benedict and from Mr Wong. Look at the line of cable cars.

At the terminal of the cable car ride. Everything here is built to resemble some ancient temples...

While walking over to the restaurant, I get to see the 2 stone guardians of the temples. The stone lions. And no way am I going up there, not after my arduous climb.

Feast your eyes on our lunch. Sumptuous spread and I was freaking hungry. After eating all fish here in Wuhan, I came to the conclusion that fishes here have way much bones then I anticipated.

Lucky for us but our tour guides have to eat outside and to a cramped table some more. Is a tour guide's life that bad?

Anyhow, I managed to get a last minute souvenir and raced all the way back to the cramped bus where I could at least sleep for 2 hours.

And this is where we part with the tour guides again. Han Xuan, our tour guide imparted 3 'Yuan' to us.

缘 - 缘分(Affinity) To have met us and toured with us for 2 weekends.
原 - 原谅(Apologise) For hurrying us all due to time constraints.
圆 - 圆满(Fulfilling) End of the day, hope we all have been happy.

Also, we clapped and cheered for the bus driver, 师傅, you have been great a driver to enable us to travel this far and for more then 10 hours as well. Thank you.

And later, I went out for dinner with Mr Wong, Nadiyah, Xin Hui, Weiguang and Hashanah. I didn't get to eat on the bus and so, I was hungry again. Ah, my 牛肉刀削面 tasted so nice!!

And afterwards, went back to my room to sleep the day. Zzz...

Day 19 - Off to Mount Wudang (武当山)

Had to wake up at 5 to bath and pack the remaining staff needed for my trip to Wudang mountain.

Met the same tour guide again... Ok... Let's go! (6 hours ride)

Look at the timing!! Anyway, thank god the bus had some entertainment.

Mr Wong was right, the song about a certain Chinese wife is really amusing. And throughout the journey, I managed to rest and sleep despite being cramped in the bus seat.

And at last, we arrived at 武当金山(Wudang Gold Hill) a shopping street where I laid eyes on...

The swords! I wanted to buy one but I doubt the Singapore customs will allow such dangerous weapons to be imported...

We have to take the local tour bus up the winding mountain road to our first stop of the day. Mountain roads are really long and has many turns causing me to feel somewhat sleepy.

It means 'Crown Prince Slope'.

And a bridge... I forgot about it.

We still have to climb up a few flights of stairs to get to the top whereby the tour guide is hurrying us all the time.

Inside, we see the wall with the 3 characters of 福,禄,寿 .(Luck, Prosperity and Longevity)

And the first Taoist temple. No photos are allowed in the temple.

This is 'The Grand Hall' housing the Jade Emperor and Cai God on the left and Sanxiao Empress(for childbearing purpose) on the right.

See this tree? People believe that by tying the red sash around it, you will be blessed.

Some decorations on the temples? I read somewhere that these also signify rankings. The more statues on the roof, the higher your rank. This is commonly used in the royal palace, harem ranks.

Say hi to the 'Five Story Tower'. With one beam supporting at least 5-6 other beams.

Well, get a coin into the creature's open mouth, in a tub of water, and all your wishes will come true.

Next, we move to another area by the bus again.

This place, 紫霄宫 is one of the best preserved sites thus far. Also, it was one of the best situated place to have a temple constructed by the emperor due to good 风水(Fengshui).

See, I can't tell the Fengshui part but the best preserved part is true. It still maintains it's grandeur.

Here we go, climbing again.

And a hall dedicated to parents.

We are in Wudang, famed for her Taoist swordplay and Wushu Martial Arts and so, yea, 来个马步 (马步 - a kongfu training) Whaha, we should all learn from Master Wong.

We all got super addicted to Martial Arts. Nadiyah practicing 'The Crane', Xian Yu using 'Taichi Fist', Me utilising an imaginary sword and finally Seok wielding an imaginary spear.

Wondering why all of us are posing like martial artists? Because we saw young disciples practicing their kongfu (video at the very end) and copied them somewhat.

Afterwards, it was back to another bus and getting to the last area of the day- The Crow Ridge Tourist Center (乌鸦岭游客中心）

Look at all the shops selling almost the same things. Competition here is really aggressive.

And finally, went down the mountain for lunch.

Sitting at the Halal table is best because the dishes are blend and healthy as compared to the other tables.

After our meal, we were driven to our accommodation- a local hotel rating of 3-4 stars. For me, I was just grateful I could rest again.

Reached the place and assigned the room keys.

I will be rooming with Zee Min in room 3220. Not bad a number.

And upon entering, we were all gasping and sighing in amazement because it really was better then what we had anticipated. I feel like I am back home going on a trip and checking into a hotel.

Sad thing is, we only get one night and about 5-7 hours of rest...

After setting down and checking that the hotel room has everything in order, we both started camera whoring with the mirror. I look so strange..

And our key. It's a card-key. Only thing is, I could not take it back as a souvenir.

After resting up a bit, Me, Pei Jie and Zee Min went with Mr Wong to walk around the area.

Realised that the area does not have uch food and so, went back. Not before we met up with Xin Hui, Weiguang, Hashanah and Nadiyah.

I went in and bought a hairband that costs 18 yuan. Actually, I just liked the hairband to position my hair...

Finally, we took this picture on the streets. Like Pei Jie said, where can you ever take a picture on the street in Singapore. Furthermore, it is quiet.

Super fun to pose on the road. No cars in sight.

I also end the day ealy because I have to wake up at 5 tomorrow. Night all.

Day 18 - 樱花(Cherry Blossoms) Trip

Woke up at 7 to prepare for BPE's class test on 5 chapters.

Finally, I had to write essay as answers and luckily, I managed to finish them in 1 hour and 55 minutes with 5 minutes to spare for checking abit. Finally, I did my best and as per usual, I think I managed to scape through as I was studying in a 'information in and information out' way.

I also arranged to meet Mr Wong at the classroom entrance at 12.30. However, as I had to wait for Zee Min, I received word and apologised before rushing her over to meet Mr Wong.

Good news. Our results are out today and I fared as well as I expected. Thank god I passed Mathematics module. I am grateful.

Anyway, met Stephanie and her brother, Vincent as well as Irene, his secretary. Lucky us, we will be going to 武汉大学(Wuhan University) in style- a car ride with another driver, call 师傅(a form of address.

In the car. Zee Min, Stephanie and me sat at the backseat and I managed to capture the view of the car. Not bad... I get a car ride here.

We then went to have 火锅(Steamboat) first.

Count the number of swans if you can.

Mr Wong who eats anything was given the menu initially but afterwards, he pushed it back to Irene to order instead.

The service staff then bought the seafood to confirm with us our order. And we have...

Abalone! (The black one) and a flatfish? (You know, the sand dwelling fish that has both eyes on one side of the face) Yea, they are still alive and moving after taking this picture...

The highlight here was that one of the prawns managed to escape death for awhile by jumping onto the floor- The will to survive was indeed strong. Mr Wong mentioned that it is their culture to cook the seafood alive as it will be fresh. But seriously, it's cruel to end their lives like that...

I give the service crew great feedback for their efficient and excellent service. i mean, they were there to assist us as well as offering a cover up for our bags. They also handed us two types off papers- Wet tissue and plain tissue as seen above.

And Mr Wong, do be careful the next time we have fish. See, he got a fish bone stuck in his throat and had to get a bowl of white rice. Luckily, the bone went down successfully.

Afterwards, I asked for the rice left over and dug in to the steamboat. Don't know why but lately I have been eating quite alot but still never put on weight... Sad.

Thanks to Irene and Vincent for the treat. Seriously, we all appreciate the meal.

Purchased 10 yuan tickets to go see the famed sakura blossoms.

Inside the university, the rock states 'Cherry blossoms garden'. We are here at last!

Look!!! A sea of people as well as 樱花!

It's just like a temple amidst cherry blossoms. Why pay premium amount to go to Japan to see these blossoms when Wuhan will fare just as well?

I managed to touch the soft petals of the cherry blossoms. Close up view it's really pretty with it's white colouration blooming in numbers as well, making it a sea of 'purity'.

Finally, went back to the car, afterwards and headed to computer city with Mr Wong and Zee Min.

And finally, a safety feature I recommend to Singapore's cabs to prevent theft and assaults- An iron /steel bar.

Bid goodbye to Vincent, Stephanie, Irene and the driver as we were dropped off as Computer city (电脑世界). Mr Wong managed to purchase a web cam there. Not bad.

The MP3's all looked so tempting but first, I need a warranty and advise from Mr Wong. I have to be prepared that the MP3's will break down.

Took bus 702 back and the ride was so long that I nearly nodded off many times and so, I pinched myself to stay awake anyhow.

Finally, I learnt how to withdraw money 'from the wall' with aid from Mr Wong. It's so freaking long!!

In the end, Zee Min had to go off and so, I went with Mr Wong to purchase dinner respectively.

Finally, I get to drink coffee. It's wonderful moment as I savoured it. Not bad, I stayed in Mr Wong's room and saw many pictures. I am so envious that he managed to go to Egypt and the African plains. Ahh!! I want to go too...

And that's all...

Day 17 - No more IS lessons

Woke up at 7 plus after hearing Hui Miang's alarm. Then, snuggled back to bed and fell asleep until 11.52.

Introducing my breakfast and lunch- Beef instant noodles. Don't feel like going out to get breakfast. So we went to Weiguang's room to get hot water for our noodles.

Afterwards, went for Xiao ling 老师's class. This time her lesson was on "Etiquette " and "Business in China".

One of the slides. We cannot call the service staff in China "Missy(小姐)". It seems to be rather offensive as it also carries another meaning- That you are interested in the service staff.

Confucianism and it's 7 core teachings with respect to being polite.

Whaa!! The best. We all heard of Coca Cola. But what about Pizza Hut? Intriguing thought.

Since I was so freaking bored in class(4 hours straight of history and I will see how others fare), I started taking random photos.

This is Zee Min and the others in the background all having different reactions by the time the lesson was into the 3rd hour.

I told you I was super bored. I look rather smug and deserve a slap huh?

Near the end of the lessons, we presented a token of our appreciation. Xian Yu, representing MDE division, went to present it and was in the spotlight.

See how happy Xiao Ling 老师 to finally get rid of us? Just joking. While her lectures my really be boring to some extent, I fell that she's really engaging and approachable.

The 3 lecturers 排排站(queueing up in a row) We have Mr Wong, Xiao Ling and Mr Cheong.

At last, I went back to my room, put my bag down and went to the street to find Pei Jie and Zee Min as I purchased my dinner.

Along the way, something's really different:

The street is finally coated with a fresh coat of paint! See those diamond shaped makings? They weren't there when I first arrived there... finally, they actually started to take note of the safety of fellow students.

And the zebra crossing. Finally, we all don't have to be labelled as jaywalkers anymore (although, we still do it discreetly).

I want to watch Animal Planet. Seriously, I am missing the feeling of lazing on my sofa and watching documentaries and cartoons while pigging out on snacks.

Why must the car make me remember about my comforts... Damn it.

And with that, I conclude the night by studying the BPE (Business Process Engineering) as there will be a test on chapters 1 to 5 tomorrow. All the way!!

Day 16 - Getting Warmer

Woke up by 8 through a vivid dream. Anyway, for a second there it felt like I was back home and waking up on my own bed. But, that's just a feeling that passed.

And there's presentation from 10 to 12. Luckily, Mr Wong drew lots by room number and so we would be the 2nd last group to present. So, let's watch the presentation order in sequence now, shall we?

First up, we see Zee Min and her teammates performance. Zee Min came in late and literally spilled out her presentation at the speed of a bullet. At least, I was able to understand it.

Next up, we have Stephanie's group. Since they mostly major in BPQE(Business Process Quality Engineering), they picked out a chart most common to them- control chart.

Xin Hui went next. She looked rather flustered and tensed in this picture.

And presenting the "Three Musketeers". We have Benedict, Randolph and Clive presenting.

And next, Franice's group.

Finally, my turn. Ok, I look outdated in this green and black sweater. My team members are Pei Jie and Hui Miang.

I had to operate Mr Wong's computer as well. So, I will be talking about Ishikawa Diagram or Fish bone Diagram as know more commonly.

I had no proper preparations, except that a few groups before me had also mentioned my point and so, I had several hints on where to go from there. See me looking back at the slides ...

Mr Wong looks way too serious that I am rather not used to him as it is. Why so serious, Mr Wong?

Confucius said that since our body is given by our parents, we cannot harm anything. Then, I have been cutting my hair in any style I please, but I am still a good child, ok?

China's sickening history of foot binding. Imagine the pain that girls have to live through back then. What 'Lotus foot'? More like 'Deformed foot'.

I feel really appalled that women have to bind their feet or else they would not be able to marry off. It's just so unfair(if they are forced to) and stupid that throughout history and modern days, women have to keep suffering all for the sake of fashion and beauty.

Seeing the above pictures, I am glad that in the modern world, woman are counted somewhat as equals.

The 10 laws that devoted Buddhist adhere to. I think that's impossible to adhere to all because we are all not perfect.

Once again, Zee Min fell asleep in class and this time, Hajar was egged by Weiguang to use her camera and take her picture. Poor girl, getting teased again.

I caught Mr Wong 'acting cute' again.

All the important people of China's government area. All of them in their late 30's to 50's.

I also learnt more about Taoism and Buddhism. Ultimately, all religion is created by ancient people who felt compelled to explain the 'universe'. And in turn, it is a philosophy that results in the birth of many religion.

Taoism is about ‘going with the flow' and just making life happy by living a simple life.

And by the way, 观音菩萨(Goddess Guan Yin) was origincally a male figure which was later dipicted as female. At the end of the day, I finally realise that I prefer the philosophy of Tao and would adhere to it's main rules to being happy.

Spring time and the trees all now have green leaves. And to think that when we arrived back then, the trees were all bare. Time flies fast.

Went back to my room to feast on bananas that I bought. Also, went back to learn that the Internet connection was cut off.

I went to speak with the lady in charge of the hostel and was told I had to find another china lecturer. Just as I was contemplating on my next move, I saw Mr Cheong(Another division's lecturer). I quickly related the problem as Mr Cheong called Mr Wong.

Soon enough, someone came to repair the cable. It turned out that the main cable was disconnected causing all other connections to ground to a halt.

Went to the alley to purchase dinner with Zee Min. For dinner, I had 牛肉拉面(Beef Ramen, I think). I also managed to purchase an egg tart(蛋挞) and a loaf of red bean filled bread. But I find the egg tart too sweet to my taste.

Afterwards, went back to her room to eat the dinner.

Departed for my room and dash out again to go to the mini mart that Zee Min pointed out can buy water. I bought 12 bottles of 1.25 litres priced at 20 yuan. Going by some mental calculations, I think it's worth it as 1 bottle will be at 1.67 yuan.

Along the way, I spotted:

The street padddlers were all packing up after a car horned at them. Just who are these people?

Answer: Somewhat like our Singapore Traffic Police. Sorry for the blur image. My digital camera was too slow in response.

I concluded the day stating that the temperature here is literally getting warmer and much more pleasent. If only this kind of weather would last..

Day 15 - Steel Industry visit

Woke up early at 6 to bath and to eat some light breakfast. Later assembled at the main gate and boarded the bus to get to the place.

The safety helmets look really... Hey mum, your 'sentosa's hat'. I get to wear it again.

The 'special' bus that is allowed into the factory. Other buses are not allowed.

I got some free sweets. From 旺旺 . Chewable too!

See the internal railroad. Internal means that the train operates to deliver goods within the boundaries of the factory.

It's not fun because we had to stop and wait to allow the train's passage.

Caught 3 factory workers slacking. Introducing Masita and Hajar and lastly, Pei Jie.

We went into the factory whereby no cameras were allowed as a safety measure.

After donning our helmets, we had to move along the passageway and as we did that, a large piece of moulded steel came out, piping hot from the furnace. We all could feel the radiating heat that soars to 900 degrees. No wonder we were all drawing back.

That steel plate was then moved along the conveyors and then using jet waters from another machine, it was cleaned of impurities on the surface. The steel was moving back and forth on the conveyor before progressing.

Afterwards, the steel was later sent to another machine to compress and shape it into large coils ready for direct shipment. I learnt they practiced a Just-in-time (JIT) theory.

Honestly, the noise pollution was really deafening. I had to cove my ears for most of the parts, especially when the crane hovered over us to dispose off scape metal.

The above mentioned process may be lacking as I was not able to see the entire process and so, unable to confirm the whole thing. Mr Wong did fill in the blanks for the process.

MDE students, let's go. Wait, are we students or workers?

Went for lunch with Xin Hui, Weiguang, Nadiyah, Hashanah, Pei Jie, Zee Min and Xiang Yu. Naturally, with respect to the NE message, we have to preserve racial and religious harmony and so, we went to eat Halal food.

I must admit that the blend dishes are tasty and with fresh vegetables, we really were digging in.

Along the way back to our room, I managed to buy this packet of yougr, flavoured with Aloe Vera (芦荟). It's tasty and soon, I finished it up. Initially, the deal was to purchase 4 for 10 yuan and you also get a free cup. Well, Pei Jie walked away with the vup as I got this drink which is good enough.

I spy Hajar falling asleep in class. Can't blame her. We are somewhat tired and also, check out the 'fashionable' orange tees most of us were still decked out in.

We still had lessons at 1. Mr Wong was highlighting aspects of manufacturing steel which we could not see such as the moulding of steel, adding of alloys as well as the cutting of the finished coils.

What have I learnt for today? Chapter 6.

I had instant noodles for dinner.

Day 14 - Tug of War

Woke up feeling relatively cold. I realised that I was late by 30 minutes as I had forgotten to set the alarm properly. Lucky me.

Anyway, on the way to class, Pei Jie, Zee Min and me came across this sight on the basketball court. They were having a game of tug of war. We could have played as well but we had to rush for class as it is.

Come on, pull harder!

During lessons, Mr Wong asked the class how we find the trip to the Three Gorges and many of them went in unison, "boring."

I beg to differ, I found it really relaxing and wonderful experience. Can say I have unique tastes as compared to the others?

Also, the Flexsim software was getting harder by the minute.

Spent the rest of the time slacking in my room.

For dinner, went to the backstreet for some street food. Once again, I purchased some fried rice, this time, with eggs. (鸡蛋炒饭). Seriously, I am getting addicted to the streets 肉包. Oh my god...

Seriously have little idea what to get for gifts. Ok, Don't have to say no need to because I already bought some foodstuff intended as gifts. But I think that I still need many more souveniers as it is.

Day 13 - Long bus ride back

Had to wake up early for breakfast. Zee Min and I ended up being the last two again.

And on to the 5 hour bus journey whereby I manged to sleep a little but also, my neck was aching because of the wrong sleeping position.

Finally, stopped at another store where we get many more goodies for the room or as gifts. I managed to secure food packages that is locally made.

Initially, I wanted to purchase the group in a plastic bag that costs 100 yuan. Then, I decided to purchase individual packets at 16.50 yuan each meaning that in total, I only have to pay 66 yuan. So much cheaper and total costs can be lowered.

I also purchased some honey candy.

Finally, reached school and had my laptop back with me.Thanks to the postwoman, Kathy. Thus far, the keyboard is really springy as compare to my previous laptop. Although, there are some markings on the screen, I think.

Anyway, had great time at the three gorges as well as the ferry. Truth be told, the ferry's bed are way better though.

Well, finally concluded the trip with a stiff neck to boot.
